Since its inception in 2014, The White Corner Creative has been focused on creating custom branding and design for entrepreneurs. Now, we’re switching it up a bit, and focusing on helping entrepreneurs create custom branding and design for themselves.
As a freelance designer, it’s great to think about all the successful business owners out there who have big budgets and are ready to hire me to create them a custom brand and website. I love working through that entire process with creative entrepreneurs who are passionate about what they do, and it’s my dream project.
But, at the same time, I’ve always had a passion for helping people who aren’t quite there yet. I love beginners. I love people starting out, following their dreams, and taking risks to find what they want. Why do I love it? Well, because I was one, not too long ago. In fact, I still am one. I’ve had a lot of success in the business world lately and am loving what I do, but I’m still at the beginning stages of it all, and I have a long way to go.
Though I’m no life coach or financial guru, what I do know well is design. Branding and web design are what I do. So, from now on I’m going to be doing absolutely everything I can to help you build your own brand and website in the most successful (and beautiful) way possible. Every business owner and blogger has a vision for what they want, and I love turning that vision into a design that helps them find success.
How do I plan on doing this? Well there’s a few things I have in store for The White Corner Creative. You might have noticed a bit of a design change on the site – I’ve updated things to make sure the new site has a new look to go along with it!
The shop is launching on January 9th and I’m so excited. I’ve been dreaming about opening a shop and selling premade designs for as long as I remember, and I’m finally there. I’ve been working pretty much non-stop on the shop for the past few weeks, and I can’t wait to reveal it to you. Essentially I’ll be offering customized logos and branding for a premade price. You’ll get to choose a premade logo and have it customized with your colours and text. Then, if you want a full brand you get to add on a kit that will be customize to suit your logo. By me! I already have a few people who are ready to test out the site and let me know their thoughts and I can’t wait to get started!
The blog will stay the same, but get a lot better. I will continue to offer you the tips on branding, business, web design, entrepreneurship, and blogging like I always have. But, I will start to offer more streamlined, actionable posts on things you can do right now to find success. If you have an idea for a blog post or a question you’d like answered, you can submit a request.
Being an entrepreneur isn’t easy. Actually, it’s really hard. And it’s a tonne of work. That’s why I want to keep things honest. When you subscribe to my email list I’ll be coming into your inbox once a week to give you an honest, behind the scenes look at what it’s like to run a business. No pretty pictures or surreal looks at what an ideal day sounds like, just a real account of how tough it is to find success. My first newsletter following this new model was titled My Newsletter Sucks, so you know I’m telling the truth. When you subscribe you also get access to exclusive design freebies, shop sales, and content upgrades.
Okay, I’m looking ahead now, but I’ve also always wanted to start a Facebook group. Once the shop launch is over and things are running smoothly there, that will be my next project. I’d love to run a group focused solely on design to help people get advice and design something they love. In every Facebook group I’m in I see people posting designs and asking for people’s preferences or for advice on how to improve. I want to create a streamlined way for them to ask for advice and get actionable advice on how to improve.
The last step in my master plan is a course. I’ve also been thinking about this one for a long time. In case you haven’t realized yet, I think about things for a long time before ever taking action on them. I want to create a course that takes participants right from the beginning stages of building a brand (thinking of a name, picking a colour scheme, designing a logo, etc.) through setting up a WordPress site, to learning how to customize the design, to launching a brand. While I was initially planning on offering it as one super course, I’ve decided to break it down into modules so that people can pick and choose what they want to learn.
So what does that mean for my custom design? Well, that’s the best part really. I still get to do what I love all day long. I’ve started working as a designer and developer at simply elaborate creative agency. It’s a design agency run by Emilia Farrace, a great friend of mine and one kick ass business lady. She loves networking and managing projects, and making clients happy is her number one priority.
I, on the other hand, love to hermit myself in front of a computer screen for as long as possible and design all day, every day. So when Emilia offered me the opportunity to have a tonne of consistent work coming in from her, while still having the flexibility to live and work like a freelancer, I jumped at the opportunity. That was a few months ago and I’ve been loving every second of it since then. I’ve been working on projects I love, with people I love, getting to do the things that I really love. I finally feel like all my hard work has paid off and I’m making big strides in the right direction. I’ve never been happier.
2016 has been such an amazing, exciting year full of growth and success, and I can’t wait to see what 2017 has to offer.
